LOS ANGELES, CA – STV has been selected to provide construction management (CM) services for the Santa Barbara County North Branch Jail expansion, overseeing the full design-build delivery of the 78,000 square-foot facility expansion.
The project will expand capacity with accommodation for 384 additional individuals, along with new support spaces, a new central utility plant and a secure connector to the existing jail. STV will also manage site improvements to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
“This expansion responds to urgent infrastructure needs driven by aging facilities and federal court requirements,” said Mike Courtney, CCM, FDBIA, project director for Cypress Construction Management, an STV company. “By managing the full design-build lifecycle of this project, we will help deliver a facility that meets modern standards for safety, healthcare delivery and rehabilitation, all while supporting staff and the surrounding community.”
Additional improvements include new fire lanes, updated security fencing, driveway and parking upgrades, landscaping and the delivery of equipment and furnishings. The work also requires grading, earthwork and utility tie-ins for sanitary sewer, stormwater, potable and recycled water, fire water and low-voltage systems.
STV provides program management, CM and owner’s representation for public sector projects nationwide. The firm’s correctional facilities portfolio includes work on the Whatcom County Justice and Behavioral Health Facility in Washington, the Baltimore Therapeutic Treatment Center, the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women and the Macomb County Jail Central Intake and Assessment Center in Michigan.
In California, STV has delivered program and construction management services across multiple large‑scale capital programs, including Sierra College’s $675 million Capital Improvement Program in Rocklin, the California Department of General Services Resources Building renovation in Sacramento and projects throughout Los Angeles County. The firm’s multidisciplinary capabilities also span transportation, education, civic and health care facilities statewide, including the BART Canopy and Escalator Enhancements, San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, San Mateo County Express Lanes Corridor, LA Metro Purple Line Extension Section 2 and Section 3, Delta Sky Way Program at LAX and the Orange County Central Justice Center.
