Project of the Year Award Goes to Gannett Fleming Construction Services
(Harrisburg, Pa.)- The Construction Management Association of America’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter named Gannett Fleming’s Packer Avenue Marine Terminal Berths 4 and 5 Improvements as the Project of the Year Award winner in the Over $20 Million category.

“The upgrades to berths 4 and 5 allow PhilaPort to serve the world’s largest container vessels and therefore strengthen the port’s significance in global trade,” said Gannett Fleming’s Michael Juliana, CCM, program manager. “The safe and on-time delivery of the new cranes required meticulous planning, and their successful installation increased the terminal’s handling capacity by 33%.”

As program and construction manager, an experienced Gannett Fleming team oversaw multidimensional infrastructure upgrades for the 106-acre Packer Avenue Marine Terminal (PAMT), enhancing PhilaPort’s largest maritime facility. Crews worked around-the-clock to overcome challenges during the reconstruction of PAMT Berths 4 and 5. The increased cargo handling capacity will create approximately 9,000 permanent new jobs and increase state and local tax revenues by roughly $40 million annually.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania also recognized this project with a Diamond Award Certificate.
