The American Concrete Institute (ACI) shares its sadness at the loss of life following the collapse of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida, USA, on June 24, 2021.

A team consisting of ACI member experts is being assembled to work with the National Institute of Standards and Technology on the investigation into the collapse.  Under the leadership of ACI committee 133 on disaster reconnaissance, the Institute will be coordinating a team to work with structural engineering experts from NIST and others in the investigation, focusing on the collapse and areas involving concrete construction.

It is expected that additional details of the investigation and ACI’s participation will be available soon.
